Preparation for the Survey

The client prior to the survey date should complete the following items;

1. In discussion with the JR Marine Survey, determine the date, time and place of the survey.

2. Request that the owner or owner’s representative make sure that all relevant ship’s papers are on board (state registration, federal documentation, etc.) as well as any portable equipment (hand held electronics, sails, etc.) that is included in the sale.

3. Make arrangements with the marina for haul out if a bottom inspection is required. Preferably the haul out should occur the day before the survey if possible to permit the bottom to dry.

4. Make sure that the owner’s representative will be available to operate the vessel for the sea trial. The surveyor will not operate the vessel for a sea trial.

5. Request that the owner’s representative be nearby during the survey in the event that the surveyor requests minor dismantling for inspection. The surveyor will not disassemble or dismantle any part of the vessel’s structure.

6. Complete and return the two page Marine Survey Agreement and Survey Work Order and fax to JR Marine Survey at 509-271-8965.
